Brake Lights always on?
Just bought a 1999 Grand Cherokee Larado. Brake lights did not work. Found a fuse missing from fuse panel and put one in (20 amp) and brake lights worked! Only problem is that they stay on all the time, even with the ignition switch turned off. I checked the brake pedal switch and it seems to function correctly both mechanically and electrically. Any ideas?

It was the stop light switch. I had previously pulled the switch and checked it electrically but it was a mechanical failure that cause it to fail when in position. New switch fixed. Thanks all.

I currently have a sticking brake light ON situation that seems to occur on days the temp drops below freezing. I pull the fuse, wait 60 seconds, and replace the fuse. Lights are reset. Weird, yea? So can the Brake Switch be cleaned or must be replaced?

Old fart with a wrench
The plastic is probably shrinking in the cold and making contact inside. Replace it.
