Default Blown engine ?

I have a 99 Grand Cherokee with 162,000 miles. Had a clicking noise on acceleration and took it to the shop where they diagnosed just by the sound. They say I have a blown engine, they think bearings or rod is bad. Need some input as I am not sure what my next step is and if being female gets me the right answer from the shop. Thanx

I highly doubt it is a blown engine, especially with that low of mileage. Unfortunately it is hard to diagnose sounds on a forum ...

What engine does your jeep have?
Ticking on accelleration usually is something as simple as bad gas or bad spark plugs.

yea if its not ticking at idle i have to agreeon the bad gas or ingnition system. and your oil psi would be down if it was bearings.

Is this noise coming from the upper engine or lower? If it's more of a "knocking" upon acceleration from the lower side then you've probably got some issues. A "ticking" from the upper engine can be several things not as concerning.

Or it could be like mine. piston skirt issue causing a nock then coming apart to disintergrate.

Mine would hardly knock, only in sever cold weather on start up.

Then out of the blue, it begin to rattle a little on a road trip. sounded like a lifter, rocker issue.

Bang !

Nice thing is, I was able to drive it to my shop, even though it was shaking to beat the band. lol

Default blown engine video

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure it wasn't bad gas- I know that sound. I found this video that sounds like my car.
My engine is the 4.7L V 8.
