I wouldn't worry about those caliper dust Shields, I take them off of all my vehicles, they create more problems than they solve.

Well, ended up buying new splash shields since I needed to buy something that had a high shipping cost, but could get free shipping if my total price was a bit higher... Couldn't think of anything else I needed, so call them discounted haha. Might take them off down the line, but right now my biggest enemy is salty snow melt.

Regarding the knuckle grooves - these guys are talking about YJ's, but the parts catalog (Figure 5-120) shows them to be identical to the ZJ's in this regard. They are showing some anti-rattle clips that are supposedly stock and will apparently help prevent this issue.

Never had em on my ZJ though. Anyone know if they are actually stock? Don't see them listed for the rear - any reason they wouldn't work there too?

On a related note, on the same parts catalog page, item #12, J400 6185, is another thing I don't seem to have. With a quantity of 6, they would seem to be related to the bolts that attach the bearing hub to the steering knuckle. On mine though, those bolts thread into the bearing hub and don't seem to have a place for a nut. Any ideas?

Well, I found the missing caliper pin. Half of it, at least, stuck inside the right knuckle. Extraction didn't go too well and the knuckle threads got damaged a bit. Held the new pin fine, but there was a little play I didn't like. So, new right knuckle.

Repaired the left one. Started with a wire wheel to remove the bulk of the rust and build up, then stuck it in an electrolysis tank for a day. Steel bristle brush and industrial Simple Green to remove any remaining residue, rinsed with brake parts cleaner.
Baked it at 550° to help get rid of the unlikely hydrogen embrittlement issue. Finally, brazed it with bronze and filed everything down. First time brazing, and they aren't great. Had issue getting the piece hot enough, and there are some voids. Anyway, here's what I've got for now.

The knuckle on the right in pictures 2/3/4 is the soon to be disposed right one, which only had a wire wheel used on it.
