Default battery draining

hi there, i have a issue with grand cherokee 2.5 ltd 98, the battery (new) is draining approx 0.3 volts per day, after 4/5 days of no use not enough power left to turn the engine. the meter is showing no amps are being drawn? is this possible or am i doing something wrong with the meter? im connecting to neg on batt to neg lead. is it poss for somthing to drain the batt without showing on the meter? if so what are the most common culprits, many thanks, paul.

Almost sounds like some sort of switch is bad. It is just letting the current run right through it. This is a common issue with RC toys lol.

As for where the switch is, I would really have no idea...

Cool

Try this.......remove the ground clamp from the battery and place a conventional test lamp between the battery post and the battery clamp. If you have a battery draw that is greater than 3 amps the light will glow. The brighter the glow the more amps that are flowing. If the light is glowing bright start by removing one fuse at a time until the light dims or goes out. This way you can isolate where the current draw is and then find what is causing the problem. Hope this helps you out. You can do this with a multi meter also, but be careful of the miss read milla-amp demon. Most of todays cars/trucks push about 30 milla-amps just to keep the computor alive.
