Battery drain
Hi Ev1,
I'm new to this site but I have a major issue with a drain on the system of my JeepGC. I had to put an onboard charger and keep it plugged in while it wasn't being used. I did an amp draw and pulled every fuse. got the normal draw of .17 ma nothing changed. have had problems with door lock and I had all 4 door panels off and disconnected and the draw never changed. maybe I be looking in the wrong spot. any and all good suggestions welcome. please no jokes. this jeep is getting on my last nerve. Thanks for your help.

The only thing I was going to suggest was a shorted diode in the rectifier bridge in the alternator, but that should show up as more than a .17 ma drain. A shorted diode will keep the alternator field energized all the time and slowly drain the battery. This will also show up as an AC voltage in the DC output and a reduced amp output.
Are you still getting a drain with the memory fuses pulled? You may have some corrosion leaking voltage to ground somewhere.

My draw was in the ceiling info center, this was a 93. It drove me crazy until I blew a fuse, and the battery stop draining overnight. Replaced the fuse a week later and guess what, it came back! Went to LKQ and spent $9.00 on the guts, replaced it in the parking lot and have had NO issues since then.

I have had a battery drain with my 97 GC but it was something with my blower motor so I pulled the fuse and it solved the problem but now I no longer have a fan speed. Anything I should check?

Yes, replace the blower motor and resistor. That should cure your problem. If you have automatic climate control, it may be the control module.

welcome to the maddness of CherokeeForum.
Good luck with the GC.
did you check voltage on battery running and off, and how long does it take to get below 12v after you turn it off?
Does it have aftermarket Stereo?

That's the reason the resistor blew. I found out enough from this forum to know that just replacing the resistor usually results in replacing it again. I had a clue something was wrong with the blower motor because, in the cold weather, it squeaked when it started up. The blower bearings are just bronze bushings, not ball bearings. I found when I replaced it, 2 of the screws were rusty.
