Ball bearings in the radiator fan?
Hey all-
I just bought this 2001 WJ 2 weeks ago. Been working on it ever since. Just replaced the tie rod ends on the drag link today, which cured my DW. Learning a lot about it, but still have so much to learn.
I was looking right behind the fan near the hub and noticed there looks to be ball bearings in there. I looked in my Haynes and it doesn't mention anything.
My question is; should these be spinning freely? Right now they don't move.
Thanks!!

Yes, there are bearings in the fan motors, they're usually a sealed type bearing. You have to replace the whole motor though, you can't just replace the bearings.

op, are you talking about the fan clutch or the electric fan motor?
You should be able to spin either reguardless. If you can't, it'll need
replacing.

Thanks for the replies. But I'm not referring to any kind of a bearing within the case. What I'm referring to are what seem to be larger ball bearings on the engine side of the fan near the center. I should have taken a picture, however was hoping someone might know what I'm talking about. I'll take a picture tomorrow.
