Bad Vibration?
I am the proud owner of a 1996 Grand Cherokee Limited, with a 4.0L under the hood, and the Quadratrac (all time 4x4). I have noticed a squeak coming from the front end while driving straight, but it stops anytime the steering wheel is turned even to the slightest amount. Not a big problem, but still mildly annoying to say the least. My main issue is that when traveling at speeds above 40mph, if you hit a decent sized bump in the road while this squeak is occurring, the entire vehicle goes into what I like to call a "death shake" and it will not stop at all until you decelerate below 35-40mph. This ONLY happens when you hit a bump while driving straight down the road faster than 40mph. Otherwise, the vehicle drives and handles normally.
I have checked all of my steering components and cannot find a problem. I have also checked out the CV joints on the front axle, and ball joints. I can't figure this one out. Any suggestions at all?

I suppose that this is the infamous "death wobble" that I have read about on this site as well as others. Didn't realize that this is a common problem with Jeeps until now! I suppose my first step will have to be to replace the steering stabilizer and go from there. Updates to follow if the problem persists!
