Bad Torque Convertor?? Need help

I have a 97 zj with the 4.0. Just recently it statrted making a ohmost knocking sound coming from the transmission area which feels like its coming from the bellhousing(torque convertor area) when I drive at different times itll make the sound and sounds like a rattling and sometimes when i go to certain gears it will go off like reverse or neutraql and makes a real loud knocking sound. Its a replacement trans put in recently. So my question is does it sound like the torque convertor? or what are symptoms of the convertor going as I never had one fail on me. Thanks in advance

Sounds more like a cracked flexplate to me.

It could be loose torque converter bolts

Well its fixed now guys thanks for the continuing help for my jeep this site is the best. It turned out to be a combination of the torque cnvertor bolts a little bit loose, the inspection plate a little bent and a few of the bellhousing bolts to mount engine and trans were loose and one on driver side where bracket is was about to fall out. All is well now. Thanks again guys
