Axles difference
What's the between disc brake axles shafts and drum brake ones? I have a Dana 44 rear axle in my 97 GC. Thanks

I know with the C-clip like the D35 the rotor keeps the whole shaft from falling out on the trail if you break one. As far as the 44, I would be interested in learning some other details other than the obvious that one has drums and one has rotors.

You have a 44a and it's c-clipped just like the 35. The difference on a 35 is the size of the tone rings but the 44a that came in ZJs didn't come with drums and it's parts aren't interchangeable with other 44s.

So the axle from a 35 wont work in a 44? Reason I'm asking is my passenger side axle shaft needs replaced. The bearing has worn a groove in the shaft.
