Default Anyway to tell what year rearend?

Hey I'm new to the forum. I just recieved a Grand Cherokee D35C Rear Axle Assembly from a buddy to do a disc brake swap on my 97 XJ. He knows it came from a mid to late 90's model but is there anyway to tell what year it came from by like the ID Tag or anything else? I just wanna make sure I buy that right pads and hardware the first time.
Thanks

Check the rear face of the right-hand tube (closer to the centre section than outboard) for a six-digit number starting with "60" or "61," with a one- or two-digit suffix after a dash.

That number (the Bill of Materials number, or BoM) can be run through the Dana Expert website (www.dana.com, follow the links) and you can get it nailed down to within a small range of years, if not a specific year.

The full BoM will tell you what type of differential and what gear ratio the axle originally had (no accounting for changes,) while the six-digit "basic BoM" will give you a small range of years and a specific vehicle model.

Ok I went to the Dana site but nothing comes up witht he numbers on my tag, anywhere else to decode the tag?

The tag reads:
52069377
3 55 5706-2

Anybody know? I know its a Dana 35C it's stamped on it, but on the Dana site I looked at all 94-98 Grand Cherokees w/ D35 and none of them had my tag

You're not looking for the tag.

Look at the axle from the cover side. You said it's a rear axle, so look on the face of the tube to the right of the cover (your right) and look for a number as I described.

The only thing that tag tells you that you might want to know is something you probably know already - it left as a 3.55:1 axle.

Still havent found any numbers besides a blue p# sticker beside the input on the hoggs head, the guy it came from said he got it while working at a body shop it came from a 00 or 01 model. I cant find anything else besides 35C stamped beside both sids of the diff cover and another 4dig number on the bottom beside the diff cover but cnt make it out

The numbers posted came fromt he tag bolted to the diff cover

Y's that? I'm still a little new to jeeps, I had just always heard that Grand Cherokee Disc would swap onto XJ with little mods, whats the difference in the 99+ stuff to the 94-98 stuff

As far as i know the zj swap is the easy one,the wj setup is different. The bolt pattern is not the same for one,i'm not saying it can't be done just don't know how hard it will be.

WJ's have a flat spot with mounting holes on top of the pumpkin for the A-arm.

WJ's don't have a rear track bar so it must be from a ZJ.
