Default any issues with using a 1994 gc front axle on a 96 cg

so i been looking for a replacement complete front axle for my little brothers 1996 jeep cg. i went to a local yard last week and found one. it had the 3.55 ration and cv style front drive shafts like his. the shifter assembles looked the same. just not sure if there are that many more differences between the 94 and 96. onc thing i am not sure of is if the input to the front axle are the same. i happen to look online and apparently there were 3 different input options, are these interchangeable?

apparently car-part.com has all these options

from 1/5/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.55 ratio
from 1/5/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.73 ratio
from 1/5/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.55 ratio
from 1/5/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.73 ratio
from 1/5/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.55 ratio
from 1/5/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.73 ratio
from 1/5/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.55 ratio
from 1/5/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.73 ratio
thru 1/4/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.55 ratio
thru 1/4/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.73 ratio
thru 1/4/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.55 ratio
thru 1/4/96, CV Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.73 ratio
thru 1/4/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.55 ratio
thru 1/4/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, CV style axle shaft, 3.73 ratio
thru 1/4/96, u-joint Fr drive shaft yoke, u-joint style axle, 3.55 ratio

so if his cg is from 1/5/96 is it safe to assume that the 94 front axle will not work?

If the drive shafts are different between the 2 change the input on the axle to match his 94 using the 94's input type. Yolk type are easier to fix than the cv style. I haven't seen any ZJ with a disconnect axle like you get on random XJ's. Your biggest concern is getting the same gearing other than that input type can just be swapped to what you want. If you go to yolk type and he has cv you may need to grab the xfercase output yolk too if his original is cv from the case.
