anti theft lock

anti theft lock
Does anyone know how to disable the anti-theft on a jeep cherokee zj 95-98 it's a v8 4x4 ifthat idk if that matters but i am contemplating buying one the guy says the anti-theft activated and locked the motor from starting i would like to use it for parts but it's far from where i live so id want to try and start it and drive it back instead of towing it. any suggestions??

I don't think you can outright disable the alarm system. Search the forums, this issue has been discussed pleanty of times so I'm sure you'll find an answer.

try unlocking the drivers door with the key. if that doesnt work, try the passenger door. if that doesnt work try the rear hatch. if none of those work, you're kind of SOL. once one works and disables the system, take off the drivers door panel, find the purple wire with yellow tracer, cut it, and ground it. security system = permanently disabled

Where is the guy located?
Plan B if for some reason its a aftermarket alarm, would be to dingy tow it back slowly with your jeep and a front tow bar from harbor freight (look for coupon!) and magnetic tail lights like the tow trucks use. i think if you put the tcase in neutral your good to go but others might know more about this i have never done it with my zj before. The v8 is great, i put 360,000 miles on my dodge with it (same Chrysler motor) and just bought my zj with 200k and i towed my 3000lb bayliner to havasu and back from orange county here in CA without a hiccup.
