Amp install how to??

I'm assuming you mean an aftermarket amp? I'm not 100% on this, as my Jeep has an aftermarket deck. I hooked up an amp to my Acura TL with a LOC (line output converter). What it does, is taps into factory speaker wiring and converts it to an RCA for the amp. After that, you need to run power for the amp, and a fuse tap for the remote. It's pretty simple.

I mean hooking up an amp for a sub, iv got the wire to the battery and the remote from the head unit, iv got to splice onto the door speaker. I need a high/low converter

Holy cow man, nice set up!! But my sort of laughin concern is in something as small as a (SPAMMED AD), isnt that going to drain your brain out your ears. You better have the doors off that thing!!

Iv got it turned down pretty far, I know it's a lot but I got it for a great price, I'm thinking of only keeping 1 15 and putting the other in the gf's liberty

his box is that size because it is ported. Sealed= smaller cleaner bass. Ported more booming bass + bigger enclosure.

So not ported is better?

pre fabs suck. ported or sealed. a properly tuned ported box will out do any sealed enclosure anyday. depending on what you want thats where you tune it. If you want some deep hair trick bass. proted is the way to go.and yea the only reason i chose this over a sealed was because i figured if i didnt like how it sounded i would seal it.but yea it sounds alright. For an amp I'd reccomend a soundstream. 1 beause i have one lol. and 2 because it does rated and isnt that expensive. i paid 210 for mine but i'v seen them on ebay for as low as 160.whatever amp you chose make sure its cea 2006 compliant.

Is that the true rating cause mine says 1200 but ya know it's only 550 lol

Scott_Sport99 Dec 24, 2011 05:55 PM

Rms is continous power..peak is spikes..try to match rms Of the subs and don't go too over power and never use an underpowered amp at full..it will do more damage than good
