aftermarket shox for an 04 grand cherokee overland
My jeep came with jeep 'up country' shocks, can i just get shocks from local autozone? or are the up countrys shox longer than aftermarket? I want smooth ride for road. as i only ride the flat dunes and hills when i go off road so don't need any crazy baja 5oo desert race shox.lol?... was looking at the gabriel ultra shox at autozone. but their software cat said nothing about 'up country'. i assume they must fit? some shox they sell that cost more were 2 " longer than the ultras.. does that mean the 2" would ride rougher than the ultras? will that give me a 2" lift? wheel rub?
what do u think? thx!

You can use stock shocks on a 2 inch lift but the ride will be harsh. Up country springs are 1 inch longer than stock so I imagine they just use the same shocks as stock. A shock applications book which is what the counter person will refer to for part number should I would think have Up country listed in it since it was a dealer option. Otherwise I would think the stock ones would be fine. Shocks will not give you a lift. The standard Bilstien shocks are what I'd look at for your ride. or a few bucks cheaper regular Rancho 5000s are not bad at all.
