After 5 Cherokees, getting my firs G Cherokee.
So after having 2x 75's, a 80 Grand Wagoneer, a 91 Briarwood, 89 Sport & 98 Base, i just purchased a 94 CG Limited. I6, Bad tranny, 83,xxx miles, New tires, suspension & throttle body. Bought at a local dealer back in the day, stayed in the family, no physical damage. $900. MY mechanic says i can get a junk yard trans for 1k installed with no real warranty, or a chrysler rebuild for 2300 installed w/ 3 yr / 100k mile warranty. I think this was a good deal. Do you guys think this was a good buy? Like i said this is my first GC so feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, the Grand Cherokee transmission is not the same as the XJ. The 94 ZJ uses the 42RE Chrysler transmission, not the AW4 Toyota transmission.

Installed ya. I think the correct choice is the Chrysler rebuilt. I plan on putting at least 50k on it.
