Default Acronyms

First of all, forgive me for my ignorance. I am new here. What are the meanings of all the two digit acronyms (XJ, ZJ) etc? I thought I would see it on my VIN but I don't. Where I come from (1stgencelica.com) people define their cars by the first 4 of the VIN. RA21, TA22 etc.

Thanks,

Bill~

It all began years ago when the Jeep was first produced for the war. When they were finally released for sale back in the US they were CJ's. Which stood for Civilian Jeep. The rest is history.

Yep, I drive a GC WJ and a GC ZJ write that anywhere in England and there will not be a soul who knows what I'm talking about. That's why I come on here - get my fix of exhaust fumes and seemingly pointless letters.
