99 Grand Cherokee16 Year old daughter... HELP??
Good afternoon all.
I have a 99 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L V-8 45RFE...maintained perfectly. My lovely 16 year old daughter was driving her friend home, her friends arm hit the shifter, it went from drive to neutral at about 35mph...she overreved the engine for a few seconds. After she got home, I went out to hear this noise she described. It was a metal clanking directly under the throttle body. I took the boot off and couldn't see anything flying around. It's at the dealer now (broke my #1 rule, but anyhoo) and they are telling me they think it's a rod. The engine was purring like a kitten, even with the noise at the dealer, and a rod sounds wrong to me.
Any thoughts?
I'm in the middle of an 8V71 DD re-build for my bus, so I have diesel on the brain. Thanks in advance
