98 zj 5.9 transfercase swap help

98 zj 5.9 transfercase swap help
Well I been looking for months for a 5.9 grand Cherokee got a 98 today no front driveshaft so I'm thinking it's the vc not sure but if it is I'm gonna put np231 transfercase in it just wondering which Xj models would bolt right up and will I just need to get the driveshaft out of the Xj I'm getting tcase from have it modified?

I believe you want a 231 from a 96 and newer. The ZJ also came with a 231 and the 242, they're just a little harder to find.
