98 transmission whine
I have a 98 Grand Cherokee that has been driving fine. but after being parked for a month or so, I startd it up today and I am getting a whining sound (like a pump running dry) on the front half of the trany?????
it sounds like your power steering pump does when empty.
Anyone have any advice???

these transmissions are notorious for draining fluid back from the converter. this is probably what you hear. when you start it after it sits try and imediately shift it into neutral. There is no fluid flow to the converter in park. This is most likely what you are hearing.
