Default 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Tire and Wheel

Alright; so I want to get new tires for my 98 jeep grand cherokee. I've been looking at Goodyear's Wranglar Duratrac tire. My jeep is a stock laredo. i know that the stock tire size is around 225/75/15. different people tell me different things. When you look at a 98 jeep there looks to be tons of clearance left for new tires. I want to know what the biggest i can get these duratrac tires even if it involves getting bigger rims(if thats possibile) can you tell im confused? plz help me.

A 235/75-15 should fit with ease. You could go to autozone etc and get rubber blocks for up front and a helper spring for the rear. You get 2 inches of lift for 50 bucks. Super easy to install. Hope this helps!

First, this is a ZJ not a XJ so the helper spring won't work for the rear. Second, I am running 235/75-15s on my 97 Laredo and can hardly notice the difference in size. I would venture to say You could fit a 245/75-15. That is 1 inch taller than a 225/75-15. May have a little rubbing at full lock turning. Don't know as I haven't done it.

If you go with a 2" BB lift you can fit 31" tires.

I know this is an old thread, so I apologize for resurrecting it but, I just got a "new" 98 ZJ and I'm trying to educate myself with old posts. What is a "2 inch BB lift"?

Hmmm. Good question. Looks like it means, "Budget Boost", according to this.
