What model years fit the rear hatch for a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?

1993-98 will fit.

I noticed that in my Pick&Pull, there are 6 ZJs and 5 of the hatches are already taken.

Hey, Bryanhood! I grew up in Warwick,RI. Is Seekonk Speedway still there? Ahh, the smell of alcohol fumes in the night air! That was in 1963.

I grew up in Riverside (the other side of the bay) near Crescent Park (now long gone).


Seekonk Speedway still exists, although I haven't been to a race there in over 20 years.


I do go there for a flea market occasionally.

Take a friend for the hatch. They are quite heavy. The thing I miss most about RI is sailing on 'Gansett Bay.

I got the hatch. Same model year! Different color. Oh well. At least the interior trim matches. I had my son come with me, and that was a big help. $75 at Pick N Pull, and I get $5 back when I return my old one.


So, the next project is two power door actuators. Never ends, but still cheaper than new car payments.


I used to sail as well. My father s a member of the Narragansett Terrace Yacht Club and we raced every Thursday evening. I miss sailing as well.

Rear Hatch
 

I was wanting to switch the hatch on my 94 Limited to the hatch with the type that has the glass that opens separately. The local u-pull-it has some 98's with those hatches. I'm excited to see that they should work. That isn't going to be my first project though. First I've got to get it on the road. I believe it's a problem with the viscous coupler. I'll probably just switch to a NP242 instead of trying to fix it. First post by the way. Lots of great info on here. Thanks.

Anyone got a extra good ign switch. They wannna sell i. Have a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4 liter inline 6 Finally figured out my problems It was the electro part of ionization switch Every wire had power One of them was weak Turn the ignition to try and start on the spring load And on that particular wire my light my test light went outWhen attempting to do this

That's probably the accessory wire. The switch turns off the accessories so the starter can have more power. They come back live when you release the key. In other words, that's a normal function of the switch.

JMHO, but that rear glass is more trouble than it's worth. I had never opened it on my '00 WJ and when I attempted to, the hinges had rusted so badly I was afraid I'd break the glass if I continued. After soaking them with PB Blaster and gun oil, they work but now I've got water leaks running down the glass on the inside. Not much, but enough to leave trails on it. My owner's manual says not to drive with it open because of getting exhaust gasses coming in, so what's the point.

I just checked on the price of the viscous coupler for a friend and a new one is around $400. My local P&P has T/C's for $85 with a $35 core charge. I was looking for a decent pair of Cherokee seats recently and of all the ZJs and XJs in the yard, all were 4.0s and most of the ZJs had the 242 and the ZJs had the 231. One of the ZJs had the entire power train removed and that had been a V8. What I find amusing is most of these jeeps had the front end sheetmetal and hatches removed. Most had bad transmissions. They only had 1 WJ and that had been stripped pretty badly. Another thing I noticed on the WJ. Who in their right mind would use JY front hubs?

I checked on-line for rebuilt 242s and they run about $850. IDK about used.

All the wires should have a strang 12v or above right with a test light all were briight except that one even before i tryd to start t hats why i think my ign switch is bad
