98 Grand Cherokee can't open rad drain plug
Need to replace leaking water pump, I can't get the drain plug to open. I can turn it counter clock wise but it doesn't open and allow coolant to drain. The drain plug is black, looks like neoprene or rubber and has a long blade or handle, is this OEM? Previous owner had the water pump replaced in 2005, wondering if repair shop put different drain plug back.

In my early days of motoring, there was no such thing as a radiator drain tap – you had to disconnect the lower hose and try to avoid getting your feet wet.

Try removing the plug completely. You might want to clean out your block drain plugs also.
