97 limited orvis need trailer wiring harness
V8 order sheet says it has trailer towing kit, does not. Bought it from original owner, said it never had it . I have installed hitch and ball, need wiring harness to to the hitch for my trailer lights, cannot find anything at the usual stores, anybody got a part number or can point me in the right direction?

I know there are aftermarket units out there. The factory unit would be behind the drivers side tailight's inner panel in the cargo area. I think the aftermarket units plug into the wiring harness in the same place. Check some of the hitch builders web sites. Draw-Tite comes to mind.

Do you have the rest of the tow package? Like the aux trans cooler? This is almost an absolute nessesity for towing.

Back the upcountry package and the skid plate package just didn't have the towing package that the Vin says it has must have been removed at dealer and put on another jeep or just never actually installed

I have an after market hidden hitch harness (just your basic flat four connector) i got it from quadratec but it ended up being the wrong one...on hidden hitches website it said the part number was for a 94-98 grand cherokee but it's really for a 94 1/2 model year through 98 grand...went to put it in and the connectors at the tail lights were different...mine were oval but the kit i got has square connectors...the package was opened but nothing was used from it...not sure if you're looking for the factory seven pin one or just need the flat four to pull a small utility trailer or something...I'll sell you the one I have if you want it....here's the link to the item on quadratec's website of what i have...http://www.quadratec.com/products/92015_08.htm

forgot to add this....when i was reading up on doing the harness on my Jeep, i read that even though the VIN says it has the tow package that the complete package wasn't installed so like on mine i had the factory harness (no hitch mount either when i got it but i think it had one at some point considering it was rear ended before i bought it and my only thought is that it was taken off from damage and never replaced until i got one for it) all the way to the back passanger side quarter panel but it just ended with and open plug and apparently that's where the harness would continue from there but I could be wrong...lol

look around the junkyards. the factory wiring harness runs to the PASSENGER side and up thru a hole in the floor behind the interior panel in the trunk. it plugs into a plug in the harness.
personally i would not recommend the t harness thing from tow ready/hidden hitch. i had one and within 3 months the module fried itself. almost caught the back of my jeep on fire, luckily i smelled smoke and disconnected the battery before the module got too hot.
