Let me start off by saying I'm new here and I'm not too sure how it works, but I took my all stock jeep grand Cherokee out on a local trail. Not too bad only bottomed outa few times on a 10 mile trail (both in and coming back out). On the way out, at the end of the trail there's a small bump and I hit it at 35mph and got about 3 1/2 feet of air. After I parked it, it started up with no problems and I drove about 4 miles and then when I hit the gas it would sputter. I could hit the pedal to the floor and it would sputter but it wouldn't die. The oil pressure and temature are normal. I'm guessing its something fuel related.

You may have crushed the fuel tank.

IDK if this helps but when it starts doing it I'll shut it off right before it would die and start it back up I could go about another mile b4 it happened again.

Have you checked to see if you have any fuel pressure, gas line breaks, grounds. like busted was saying about the fuel tank you might want to take a good look there to see if anything is out of place.

I only looked underneath it for a few minutes the only thing that stuck out is the wire that runs along the cat hit the exhaust and melted one side of the connector. I'll spend a few more minutes today looking around. And I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I'll see if I can borrow one from a friend

When you took you short flight, I'll bet you stirred up and mixed all the sediment in the bottom of the tank. I'll bet your pump intake stainer and fuel filter are plugged.

Well it wasn't anything with the gas tank. I pulled off the air box cover and hose to look in the manifold only the see that it was lined with oil. So I'm guessing I blew the intake gasket and need a new intake manifold? Anyone know a place to find one cheap? I found the gaskets for 13$.

If you found oil in the intake filter box, you've got blow-by, ie; bad rings. Or, you flounced around enough for the crank to aerate the oil enough to get blown out the breather. If it's in the intake manifold, check your CCV valve hose for oil.

It's the elbow at the rear of the valve cover.

My zj does this from time to time.... I'm thinking mine is ecu though... Not sure.

There is oil in the ccv valve hose. So what's causing that?

Do a compression check. I would say worn rings. I good way to tell is pull off the front vent hose and the CCV valve out of the valve cover. If there is oil vapor coming out of the valve cover, you've got worn rings. The intake charge leaking past the rings is pressurizing the crankcase. The CCV's function is to draw this vapor into the intake manifold to be burned in the motor. This vapor is explosive, so don't have any open flame nearby.

I had a Chrysler 383 that blew a head gasket. When my dad and I replaced it, we started it up with the valve cover and exhaust manifold off so we could "hot torque" the head bolts. My dad said he saw white vapor come up past the pushrods and begin to roll over the lower part of the head. When he realized what he was seeing, he ducked. WHAM!! The exhaust flame ignited it and I saw a tongue of flame shoot out of the engine. It blew the dipstick thru the garage window. Then my dad started laughing. His military instinct took over to save him. It will live with me forever. I'm sure he would have lost his eyes.

If that was the case wouldn't my oil pressure go up when that pressure builds up in the crankcase? I watch my gauges quite frequently and it seams to be pretty low like around 30-35 at average speed and a little under 20 at idle
