I have a 96 4.0 grand cherokee awd i recently changed the transmission govenor pressure solenoid/shift solenoid and transmission filter did this cuz it would not shift it started shifting afterwards but had to put the rpms high and then parked it and now it wont drive when i put it in gear sometime it makes a nasty sound and dies other times it will just rev and barely moves with no sound and help or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Check EGR. My 96 is a v8 so not sure if they are the same. Rough idle at startup then stall when shifting unless I double pedaled it. Replaced egr and problem went away.
