Default **95 zj w/ 231 swap. vss question**

Ok, so I recently picked up a 95 zj v8 w/ a 231 swap. Well, the guy who did the swap didn't swap the speed sensors from the 249 into the 231... The 231 has the vss that came with it still in it. My question is: are the vss's from the 249 and 231 electrically the same? as in, can I use the factory 231 vss and splice it into the 249 harness?

What year did the 231 come off of? As far as I know you should be able to splice it if they are close in the same time. Don't take my word on that though lol there should be a lot of write ups here and on naxja you could look up and see if they mention anything

should be the same, unless the 231 came from an XJ or MJ with a mechanical speedo.

cool. Not sure on the year, but its an electronic sensor for the vss, not cable. I'll splice her in the morning and see what happens.....

I didn't need to do any splicing when I swapped mine. I just plugged the connector in and it worked.

Crap I was getting my sensors mixed up. The harness wont plug into the sensor on the front of the tcase. What sensor is that? I assumed it was a vss because my speedo doesn't work

vss is on the tail housing of the tcase. the foward sensor on the tcase is the shift position sensor. not important and your 4wd will work without it. the vss connector has (i think) 3 pins in a row. the shift sensor is a more round connector IIRC
