Looking to buy a parts Jeep or something I could potentially swap lots of parts over from. Are there any major differences between the 95 Laredo and the 97? I know the grille and bumper are different but aside from that is there any mechanical changes that would hinder what I’m wanting to do? Thanks in advance fellas

Yes, the 93-95 ZJ are first generation and the 96-98 ZJ are second generation.

Many of the parts are not compatible.

Get a parts vehicle of the correct generation.

There are definitely differences but it depends what parts you're specifically referring to. '97 would be OBDII while '95 would be OBDI so any type of ECM/PCM or wiring harness would be different.. Axles are the same on the I-6 models but switched from the D35 to the D44A for the V-8s. Interior was redesigned/updated but still has overlap. List some of the parts included in your "lots of parts" and we can be more specific.

Just bought a 95 without a gas tank or front fenders, need to know if those items are transferable between the second and first gen ZJs. Those are the main ones that concern me right now and I'll list other misc parts as I go along.
