94 ZJ at 4ooo RPM's at 60mph
I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee with a 4.0 and automatic transmission. Driving down the road on any time of grade at all it will hit 4000 rpms at 60 mph. I can take my foot off the gas and it will up shift and go down to about 2k rpms but when i step on the gas at all it will down shift and hit 4000 rpms again. Any answers would be appreciated. The jeep also has 208k miles on it.

I would first listen to 721 and check the fluids.
If thats good then you can try switching the Transmission relay with a non essential relay, say the horn. Then take her for a spin, if that cures it then you know you need a new relay. If it doesn't, then you may need to replace the Trans Control Module (TCM). These transmissions, while they are hydraulic in operation, they are electrical in management. When the trans goes that high in RPMs only to do 60 tells me that your TCM may have gone into Limp Home mode. I wouldnt drive it anymore as you may fry the trans itself.
The relay would be in the fuse / relay box under the hood and may be labeled as the EATX. Hope this helps, Good Luck

Yeah, it has a throttle pressure cable (aka kick down cable). Check the fluid first, and if that checks out, do a search for the throttle vavle cable adjustment proceedure and give it a shot.

I just tried the cable thing and. Checked the fluid..my cable didn't have a button on it so I unconnected it from the throttle and just pulled it and let it go back in..hopefully it works unless I did it wrong lol

check the TPS. I had a bad TPS and it shifted way to early. I then got a new one but that was bad too, dont buy the cheapest one. You can meassure it with a volt meter, but it can still look good since you cant meassure it 100%.
