Hey guys,

My brother inlaws Dad is selling me his 94 Grand Cherokee. What are the differences between the Cherokee and the Grand? I have some new parts I never installed on my 95 Cherokee (R.I.P.) that I sold to the junk yard. Radiator/Serpentine belt/Shocks and U Joints. Any help would be great.

The biggest difference is that the Cherokee uses rear leaf springs while the Grand uses coil springs, 4links, w/a trac bar for the rear suspension.

another big difference is that the block in a cherokee is way different than a grand cherokee. The motor mounts and all sensors as well the head and one is a coil pack and the other one is a distributer.

I found this one out the hard way

The block itself can't be different in the same year because of the costs involved in having two separate castings. The motor mounts of course would be different.

The head in a grand cherokee has the holes for the coil pack to bolt down, as for the cherokee it does not because of the distributer. Also the ac pumps ear that comes off the block on the grand cherokee, the cherokee don't have it. I called around to find a belt with out the ac and they don't sell it so you will then have to measure it and maybe you will get lucky.

and this is for the 4.0 straight six

You might be right, but I still can't believe that Chrysler would go to the expense of casting a separate block just for the Grand Cherokee.
