93 GRand cherokee battery drainage
SO i have a 93 GRand Cherokee Laredo. i dought it used in december but do to grades(im 16) my parents wont let me drive it. SO its been sitting for a few months. I have tried to drive it a few times and the battery has been dead. This has happened twice now. there is two 10 inch subs in it but i haven't really used them and have made sure to turn off EVERYTHING before leaving the car. And the old owner said he never went through any batteries. so maybe is the battery to old and needs a new one? or an alternator problem?

in the meantime, jump it and run it every few days. Not as good as driving it as far as charging goes...but I thought I had a dead alternator...car would die after 3 days. But just starting it and high idle for a minute or so would keep it going.
in my case, turned out it was the alarm malfunctioning --after it totally died I replaced it and the draining problem went away--not your issue apparently, just why I mentioned it. If it was the daily car of the last owner, the stereo *could* be draining it even turned off--like my alarm was doing, but if they drove it every day that was enough to keep it all charged so they never noticed

Old fart with a wrench
A good way to find a hidden drainage problem is to connect an ampmeter between the battery pos (+) post and the cable. If the reading is more than about 2 amps, start pulling fuses and watch the ampmeter. When you find it, the ampmeter reading will drop. The 2 amps is the PCM and radio memory.
Just an interesting point. When I was a 16 year old kid, my dad was teaching me auto mechanics. We, together, rebuild his Ford motor. When we got it all reassembled, he told me to reconnect the battery. I saw a small spark and disconnected it immediately. Then I put back on and got no spark. I went inside to tell him what had happened. (he was sitting watching TV with a beer) He said "Try it again". I did with the same result. An initial small spark and then nothing. He came out and sat watching the guages while I did it again. Then he started laughing. He said "It's the clock rewinding!" The old mechanical clock would rewind itself every 10 minutes by kicking a solenoid on the spring. It's just little stuff like this that drives you nuts.

you tube vid. there are more on this problem==so I'm not saying this is the best one. You'll need some equipment you can probably borrow (with a deposit) from a car parts store if you don't know anyone who has it

I was going to suggest that but because of jeep's well known problem with cable ends, I didn't. If you REALLY think it's a good idea, they have disconnect switches for heavy equipment that work well enough that you can crank a diesel with them installed. IDK$
