Default 7in lift or custom?

alright so i know some where down the road i will want to lift my 93 ZJ (after college?) anyway i was looking at some 7" lift kits and since they are 3 grand i was wondering if it would be cheaper to grab some coil overs some tubing and rod ends and have at it. plus i could go higher.

the other problem i see is the axles, i don't want to do all the fab on the axles more then once when i go to upgrade them, so then i kinda want to get some Rubicon axles for 35s-37s?

so with tires/wheels axles and a lift is what 7-8 grand?

you can fit 35s on 4.5"s why do you want such a high center of gravity

how much trimming do you have to do for 35s on a 4.5" lift?

Don't waste your time with the Rubi 44s unless it's the JK version. The TJ version is a front 30 with a 44 center section and low pinion and the rear is a light duty 44. I personally wouldn't run anything bigger than a 35 on them. The JKs are a bit stronger and will hold a 37.
I ran 35s on mine with 4.5" short arms and a little fender trimming.

I took roughly 3" out of the front and an inch or so out of the rear, trimmed the bumpers to match and extended bumpstops.

Long arm will be a ride quality. If you stay with short arm make sure you get some quality adjustables upper lower front and rear.

7 inchs and 37's will roll you faster then a fat kid down a steep San Fransisco hill.

basically im saying your gonna end up on your lid really quick

6" and 37s would be nice but at that point there is much more to contend with than a lift.

It all depends on what he is using his Jeep for. If its running mainly mud then by all means skies the limit there!

Now if he gets into technical stuff with it then yeah, the lower COG the better.

7-8 grand would be a lot for a mud truck though... actually 7-8 grand is a lot, period!!

out here in san diego we rarely see mud let alone rain. so it will probably be a rock crawler.
