4x4 transmisson problems. I think?
I got a 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo with about 115K. I bought it around 6 months ago. About a month ago i drove it to work in 4x4 full time because of a snow storm. It seems to shift late, as it will be at the rpms needed to upshift but it will wait 3-5 seconds to shift. It started to pull real hard to the left so i turn the 4x4 off. after this i have a high pitched winding noise when i coast in drive, also i have a deep "wa-wa-wa" sounding noise coming from the same area as the winding noise. After i shut it off and was driving around 60 mphs, it erratically downshifted for a second. Then it seemed to be stuck in 4x4 part time because my front end was bucking, or fighting itself when turning into a parking space. but after it sits for a while it seems to be ok besides the high pitched winding noise. hard to take to a mechanic if it only does it ever so often. help

you sure you not in 4-lo?
are you in 4-hi-part? double check your gear selection. you can also try to roll, shift trans to neutral while rolling then back to D after a few seconds. that may disengage the 4x4. |
First check your fluid level.
