Default 4wheel drive won't engage

hey,

i've got a 2004 Freedom Edition 4.0L (42RE trans) and i can no longer shift into 4wheel drive (high or low)...

it makes a clicking noise similar to a bad CV joint (but doesn't make the noise when i shift it back into 2wheel drive), and the idiot light in the dash doesn't come on either (to further indicate that it's not engaging.)

thanks

-Brandon

maybe the linkage or cable is not engaging things all the way. I have been underneath mine to see what actually runs what, but that is where I would start.
