Hi All-
I'm new here and hope you guys can help me out. For the couple of months I noticed when starting my Jeep I would turn the key and nothing would happen. However, if I mover the gear shifter out of park and returned it to park firmly the car would start. Is there a swith somewhere that is telling the car not to start because it thinks it not in park? Is that something that is easly fixed....I hope?

What year is it? Engine size? Need more info.

Sorry, 2002 4.7 V8. I'm thinking Neutral Saftey Switch?

sounds like a good direction, but you may also may want to check the adjustment for the linkage itself. Easiest way to check is when you put it in any gear is the indicator centered over the gear? If not even being a little off will screw with it. Another check is out it in neutral and try starting it. If it starts everytime in neutral, then probably needs adjustment

Thanks, I'll check that out. So far it does seem to start fine in neutral. I'm going to play around with it this weekend. I'll keep you posted.
