Been thinking how rare my jeep is being a 2wd, how would one go about getting a transmission for one? Would the trans have to be for a 2wd only? My jeep is a 1994 grand 4.0

It's really not that rare, haha. You might have to go a bit more south, but 2wd (at least 2wd XJs) are extremely common down in Georgia.
Yeah, I just checked my Craigslist... 2wd ZJs are pretty common.

Not to much in kentucky. I like having a plan in case it went out. So you can buy a trans for a 4wd and it will fit the 2wd no problem at all?

Yes the only difference is the 2WD does not have a transfer case.

Is there any difference in years? Like 93 or 97?

Just did a search and it shows that 93 to 95 are compatible.

There is a difference between the 2wd and 4wd transmissions other than the transfercase. The tailshaft and housing are longer in the 2wd tranny.

Okay, guys. How rare is a 2WD with standard trans in 97? (4.0)

I don't think a manual transmission was used in a Grand since 1993 or 94.

Maybe Grands that were sold over seas might have been available with manual transmissions after 93, but not in the States as far as I know of.
