225/75 vs 245/70
I'm new to this forum -so if this has already been discussed-could you provide a link for me--Just wanting to know if I change tire size to the 245/70 will it change ground clearance or handling issues in the winter time. My grand cherokee has the 225/75 Michelin LTX currently but the spare is full size 245/70 Goodyear SRA. The main reason I'm asking is that I might need new tires before winter and am looking for recommendations. Thanks.

Mine came with 235/65/17. I went with general grabber at/2 245/70/17. Gained a little ground clearance. Very little. Handles just fine. Mine is a 2002 Grand Cherokee Overland

245 is wider then a 225. This is great in dry and to a point wet weather. However snow on the other hand likes narrower tires.
So its a trade off.

Amon telya whot! I have 245/70R16's on my 2000 WJ. (General Grabber AT2s) and NOTHING stops it in the snow. Last winter I was pushing snow up to the headlights and it just kept going. I've never had better tires for snow, EVER!
It's only a whinny 4.0 too.
