2011 Overland w/ MDS - Transmission shifts HARD?
This is my first post on the forum and I wanted to say thank you in advance for any help received. My wife and I bought a 2011 4x2 Overland w/ the Hemi MDS engine. It currently has 8k miles on it. It was a showroom car with around 300 miles on it when we took delivery. One thing we have noticed is that when we are cruising right around the cusp of where the engine is actually in overdrive in MDS mode vs. kicking down a gear and going to all 8 cylinders, when it DOES kick down for more power, the shift is VERY noticeable. It just does not feel right at all for a brand new car to be doing that. It is obviously still under warranty and I before I take it into the dealer to get looked at, I wanted to run this past a forum to see if this is a problem that others are having or is this just the way the motors with MDS work? Should I be concerned about this in terms of long-term reliability if this is the way MDS systems work in conjunction with the tranny? I have a basic knowledge of cars, but nothing really in-depth. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
In addition, are there any known bugs/issues with the new Grand Cherokees that I should be on the lookout for?

Take it to the dealer for any possible TSBs and for warranty repairs. There may be a simple reflash of the PCM that can take care of the problem, but that is a dealer issue and it will be free of charge.

Technical Service Bulletin. It's info sent from the factory to the dealership on how to address and repair problems and issues that may be happening with their brand of vehicles. If the factory starts to see a problem with a bunch of vehicles, they will do some research and improve the design of the part that is the cause of the problem.
