Default 2008 Grand Cherokee 4.7 wont start and central panel doesn´t work

Hi Folks,

I just bought one ´08 Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8, in a reasonable condition, less than 30K miles.

The car was involved in an accident, but not serious. It broken the front bumber, and a few parts in the front. Any airbag was opened.
When the tow came, the driver did try to jump start and "off-course", he did it wrong and inverted the positive and negative pole...
He did burn several things in the car:
- The module connected to the fuse box (is it an ECU?) - replaced
- several fuses - replaced
- the central panel - replaced
- some relayes - replaced

Now somethings come to life, like the brakelight, power windows, etc...
But the dash (central panel) does not work for anything... the key it self does not turn on anything...

Please, what else do I need to check, to "turn on" the dash and see if the engine will start?

I know it´s not a simple job, but it´s a great car and I would like to bring it to life again!

I can post some pictures of the car, engine compartment and parts replaced, if it helps.

I have an ELM327 and the Torque Pro Software, but since the dash and the car does not start, I could not read anything until now.

Thank You All,
Bruno V8

Check the fusible links. These are sections of wire that act as fuses. He probably toasted every electronic circuit in the vehicle. If it were mine, I would theaten the tow company with legal action for the repair. It will be expensive.

Thank You for your reply. I will do that with the wires.
No doubt about the tow company…. I was so angry about when the previous owner told me that….

Yesterday just installed the new central panel and more things came to life.
When I open the door the panel shows “door opened…” and it can detect left / right / hood… when it´s opened.

But when I insert the key (keyless) I can´t turn on the battery for example, to open the windows or to turn on the warn signals in the panel…

I would like to ask if maybe, the key “lost” its synchronism to the car…. Is that possible?
I mean… When I turn the “place of the key” to right… I can rear somethings acting…. I can rear even the “bing bing bing bing” warning about the door opened…
But it does the same with the key in the place or without it, when I turn with my finger….

What I can supposed is:
The car is not recognizing the key…. Am I correct?

Thank You,
Bruno

Hi Folks,

One more question:

Is it possible to turn on the engine using that "emergency key", which comes with the KEY (keyless system)?
If yes, how?
If no, why that key exists?

Thanks,

Hi Folks,

Just readed about that emergency key. Looks like it works only for doors and trunk.

Some news about:

I just made a video about the car and what´s happening! If someone one would like to see and maybe sharing some tips about, here is the link:

Thank You,
