2004 Jeep WJ - Front Drive Shaft Swap - I6 vs. V8

Hi all,

I currently have an I6 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Special Edition.

This jeep has a u-joint - rzeppa(CV) front drive shaft. U-joint connecting to the front axle and CV joint connecting to the Transfer Case.

I am interested in switching to a double cardan style driveshaft as my driveshaft joints have worn out and the double cardans appear to be better overall. I recently picked up a double cardan front driveshaft from a WJ(99'-04') - V8 jeep at the junkyard. The junkyard jeep was an overland if that changes anything.

My jeep and the junkyard jeep both have Quadra trac 2, which I believe means they both have the 247 transfer case.

Does this mean i can swap on the double cardan to my I6 jeep WJ? I have seen some say that length will be different? Is this an issue, or can i go ahead and install?

I know I will need to change on the transfer case yoke as well.

Thanks,
