2004 grand cherokee 4.0 swap into 1996 grand cherokee

Will a 2004 Grand Cherokee 4.0 swap into a 1996 4.0 equipped Grand Cherokee? I have the opportunity to purchase a pretty nice low miles wrecked 2004. My 1996 has a bad knock.
