2002 WJ electrical problem - passenger side is out!

Hello all,

OK, total noob here. I have a 2002 WJ Limited, got it from a friend and love it. It has an electrical problem, and before I go blindly rooting around in the harness I figured I'd ask the community. The whole passenger side goes out - windows, locks, mirror. Also, when it's out the alarm doesn't work. It seemed that sometimes it would stop working and then the passenger side door would get closed once or twice, and it be working again. Has anyone seen this before? I don't have a wiring diagram either and would very much appreciate any info on where to get one, or if there one available for free somewhere online.

Thanks in advance,

John, Oakland, CA

Look at the door wire bundles for broken wires. My 2000 had a problem where nothing worked if the driver's door was open, but was fine with the door closed. Everything is connected thru the driver's door module. Your broken wires might be on the passenger's side. Pull back the rubber boot and flex each wire. They sometimes break inside the insulation and make contact again. Those wires are tiny, only about 18 or 20 gauge.
