2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7L with 2 codes
The 2 codes are P0601 an P0118 (both having something to do with the PCM) it's having starting issues. I have to jump it every time I start it. I have replaced the alternator and the battery and unhooked my amplifier because it acts like something is draining the battery.... Do those 2 codes have something to do with the starting problem?? So I need to replace the PCM??

Welcome to CF!
The P0601 code is "internal circuit fault in the PCM" and the P0118 is "Engine coolant temp sensor voltage too high." Yes. it sounds like a PCM problem. You can check the supply voltage to the temp sensor. It should be around 5 volts. If it's higher, there could be a short inside the PCM, drawing power to ground. To find out for sure, you need to do a parasitic draw test. There are many posts and Youtube videos on how to do this. With the ignition off, the only things that should be drawing power are the PCM and radio memory. When doing this test, you must make sure the courtesy and underhood lights are off and you waited long enough for the modules to "go to sleep." |
2001 was a bad year for Chrysler PCMs. I have had at least five 2001 Dodge trucks in my fleet needing the PCMs replaced in the last two years.

Thanks
Thanks! I guess I'll be spending $300 on a PCM then...
