2000 Limited heater problem
Hi all. I'm new here and this is my first jeep. Ok here is my problem. I get hot air to come out of the driver's side but not the passengers side. It dosen't matter what vents defroster, dash, or floor. Both temp ***** are on high. I searched but could not find this problem on the forum. Any ideas were to look first for a fix? Thanks in advance.

The blend doors are two independent flaps (one for the driver & one for the front passenger) that direct either hot or cold (or somewhere in-between) air to the vents.
Loss of control to either side is indicative that one of the blend doors has failed; my experience is that the other will fail shortly.

Thanks Hymie. Yup that looks like what has happened. Has any one done the aftermarket replacement one? Can't remember the name but the metal ones? They look like the best way to go.

I posted a link to the ‘heatertreater’ fix sometime ago. Being from the other side of the pond, a RHD after-market fix is not available.
My fix was to cut a hole in the ductwork as shown in the heatertreater video and implement a manual fix. I fix the flaps up (warm air) during the winter months, and down (cold air) during the summer. We had such a short, lousy summer in the UK this year, that I didn’t bother with changing the positions this year.

Ya I have looked at them. I have also looked at the blendor store ones. I have read on other forms that you have to use a bigger or second motor on some ofthem. I ddefinitely don't want to have to do that. I think I will go ahead and tear the dash out. I just don't like cutting a hole on the box. From what I have read tearing the dash out is a 1 or 2 day job. So not to big of a deal.

Kennethstoy has had the dash out of his 2003 WJ to fix the blend doors, and is willing to share photos; see this thread.

A garage will charge over $1,000 to take the dash out (due to the time involved), although I don’t think it difficult – it would help to know the exact sequence and any likely snags.
Besides the photos, Kenneth may be willing to share his experience of the job.
