Default trans id question

On a 98 grand cherokee was there more than 1 automatic trans used? It is a 318 with a 4 speed automatic. Is there a tag or numbers to look for?

I believe you have a 46RE. Earlier years with the 5.2L were 46RH.

Check the drivers side above oilpan, may have an ID tag.

i believe the 46re is bigger and the 46rh is hydraulic where the 44re is electronic controlled so that would mess your computer up...it might be possible,i don't know for sure, but i would try to find a 44
