Help

have just brought a 2002 2.7 crd grand cherokee with 44000 on the clock, really pleased with it but ..... its seems noisy..not noisy but lumpy...hard to explaine..like a low vibration when accelerate sounds a bit like a subaru. is this usual to this engine? or have i brought a lemmon with knackerd big ends?

unfortunately,we don't have diesel grands in the states but diesels are "noisy" engines compared to gas

 

My 2.8 Liter CRD equipped Liberty was noisy indeed. Those Italian diesels aren't as refind as the Mercedes diesels we now have available in the Grand Cherokees. Is it throwing any codes? If not, I'd say you're fine. They have a pretty robust engine management systems on them. I had a leaky intercooler hose, and that threw up a code.

 

if it very noisy on most diesels it wont be big ends it will be sticking injectors it very common on diesel engines had them changed on a straight 5 250 merc a while ago really paniced when it started making a lot of noise one was sticking but had them all done as if one is sticking its better to have them all done mercs cost about £15 each plus fitting hope this helps
