1999 jeep grande cherokee rear end ?
my 99 jeep grand cherokee laredo is having probs in the rear end .
when i let off the gas at speed the rear seams to get loose and tight agian when i get back on the gas.So i think the control arm bushings are going bad, does this sound right to any of you? then can i just replace the bushings or do i need to get new control arms?

Your rear upper control arm is shaped like an "A" with the appex mounted to the differential housing bracket with a type of balljoint. The two "legs" are attached in the front in the conventional manner. The "Balljoint" can be serviced by separating it from the control arm with a pickle fork after removing the nut. It can then be unbolted from the axle housing and replaced.

They are old, and being rubber they're probably cracked and will have some play. The upper joint being metal will wear out. While laying under the jeep with the tires blocked and e. brake on, have someone you trust switch the shifter from drive to reverse, to drive, to reverse etc. while watching the control arm attachment points to see where the movement is occurring.
