1998 Grand Cherokee 5.2L 2WD wont start
I just replaced the transmission on my 1998 Grand Cherokee 5.2L V8. Before I took old transmission out, it would start on 1st try no problem. Now that we have new transmission in, when you turn the key absolutely nothing happens. The lights and radio comes on but the engine doesnt make a peep. Doesnt try to turn or anything. We have doubled check everything to make sure something didnt get plugged in but from what I can tell everything is GTG. The input speed sensor was cut and for the life of me I can not figure out why my uncle cut it instead of just unplugging it, but it has been spliced back together. The problem with that is the connector piece that was cut off, the protective rubber on the wire was removed leaving the bar wire exposed So I couldnt match up the colors to one another. The only one that still had the proctective coating was the yellow wire. The other 2 were removed by the time I realized it had been cut off and removed.
I'm new to the Jeep world. So any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Start by having the battery load tested, if that checks out, make sure the connections are clean, the check the wires at the starter, and then make sure the neutral safety switch is plugged in on the transmission.

Thats my guess. Maybe try neutral. Sounds like somethings not plugged in or out of adjustment. You can jump the starter in behind the right front tire with a screw driver or something. If that starts it its the switch or the ignition switch.

Got the Jeep running. It was the cracnkshaft positioning sensor. The wires going into senor were slightly pulled out. Bought a new one and installed it. Jeep started right up. Thanks everyone for the advice

You should install a new one anytime you yank a transmission. They get damaged too easily.
