Default 1998 5.9 grand Oxygen sensor help

I have a 1998 grand Cherokee 5.9. Lately while driving the motor would stop running then start but all the electrical stayed on? Today it stopped and stayed stopped. Tried to start it and it just cranks over and over... Nothing sounds bad except for it not firing up. it's as if the coil wire is off on old motors? AAA got me home and while on the flatbed I notice some wires hanging, Some how the wires from the 02 sensor? wrapped around the driveshaft and yanked the wires out, Both ends... First question, would a short in this wire system shut my car down? and would the wires yanked out like that shut my motor down or do I have another issue somewhere else? It's been a great ride for me till this.... 200,000 miles on it and a new transmission. any info would be great! CHEERS

If that harness is from the passenger's side, it could include the crank sensor and that will cause a no-start problem.
