1997 grand cherokee rolls out of park
 

1997 Grand Cherokee with quadra trak. Rolls when in park. Had a shop look at. After taking tran pan off he found a piece broken overdrive direct spring. Said trans would need to be taken out to fix. Figures a piece jammed or bent the parking pawl.

He referred me to another shop to do a rebuild which is between $1400-$1700.

Any suggestions? Anyoone know anything about this part causing this issue?

A bad viscous coupler in the transfer case can cause the vehicle to roll in park, especially if the front shaft is out.
