Default 1996 grand cheerokee ZJ need to replace AC drip pan

I just found out my drip pan needs to be replaced. Have to remove the dash.
Westgate in Raleigh NC want $1000

Questions;
1) how hard is this to do -- what tools are needed?
2) anyone know a good Jeep guy in Raleigh that isn't a crook?
3) any one have photos/instructions of this job?
4) where is a good place to buy the part?

I did a 93 in Roxboro.
Its a Biatch of a job, that said its not really that hard if you pay attention to what you are doing.
Why does it need to be replaced, it is pretty protected and should never give you problems.

As a side note, replacing the housing is the same as replacing the evaporator or heater core. There is a pages long section on the evaps.

It had a sever leak on the passenger side (tons of water in the floor). The dealer said it was a crack in the housing and put some epoxy on the crack. That made it a littler better but still leaking. I took it back and they said it was up further and needed to be replaced.

Still trying to get a refund on the first "fix".

I saw that thread with photos -- can the pan be removed without going that far?

Hey.... for the heck of it, go under the truck and blow out the AC drip tube to see if it's clogged with debris.

If it's clogged you WILL get a leak inside of the cab. I've fixed numerous in cab AC water leaks by blowing out that drip tube. Let me know if this helps.

If you want/need a second opinion, and dont mind driving 45 mins North, Im easy to find on Hwy 501 North.
Not sure where you are in Raleigh, but Im exactly 30 mins from Latta Rd, where it crosses 501 in Durham. I close a "Retail Parts Store" Friday Night (yes every single stinking Friday NIGHT!)
Ill be happy to crawl under the dash and take a look see.

PM me if you want more details
